As a converted rail corridor, the early greenway is not very green. As a result, there are many opportunities for making putting more green in the Greenway including

  • trail landscaping
  • new pocket parks
  • new larger parks
  • connections to existing parks such as Lake of the Isles, Lake Calhoun, Powderhorn Park, Bracket Park, and West River Road

A good example of a new park is the proposed NoLo Park (North Longfellow) where 29th Avenue crosses the Greenway. To read more about NoLo Park, click here.

The Coalition is in the process of planning and obtaining neighborhood feedback for this greenspace planning. In addition, the Coalition and other interested stakeholders are working with the Hennepin County Rail Authority to establish landscaping guidelines for the trail.
