Trail Watch
Our Trail Watch program is now in full swing! We are asking all interested volunteers to consider choosing a night to make a commitment to being a scheduled weekly Trail Watcher. As we continue our season of Trail Watch rides in the Greenway, we have the greatest need for weekly committed Trail Watch volunteers, but we’d love to have anyone involved, even for a single night . With your help we can make the Greenway a safe place, day and night.
SCHEDULED TRAIL WATCH
Scheduled Trail Watchers are people who fill out a waiver statement and ride the Greenway on a scheduled evening two hour shift, working in conjunction with police and other scheduled Trail Watchers on the group ride. Trail Watchers do not intervene in incidents they come across in the Greenway, rather they're a friendly presence on the trail and report criminal or intimidating behaviors that are noticed during the shift.
Beginning in November, Trail Watch rides go from 7 pm to 9 pm every day of the week. If you're new to Trail Watch, it's a good idea to get in touch with the ride leaders beforehand to make sure that they have enough volunteers for that night. Email trailwatch@midtowngreenway.org to get the name and email of the leader for your chosen night(s).
Riders meet at the 10th Avenue entrance to the Midtown Exchange building a little before 7. Bring warm clothes, gloves, and a well-charged bike light!
**During the winter, rides go less often. If you're new to Trail Watch or unsure if a ride will be going out, email trailwatch@midtowngreenway.org or call us at 612-879-0106.
